What class will you teach this summer?

I don’t teach a class! I am the Junior Camp Coordinator!

What county are you from?

Fauquier County but  I never went to camp when I was younger, so all of the clusters that come to the center are my favorites!

How long have you been a 4-H camper?

Four years as a staffer!  I never knew about 4-H camp as a child, but I have now done 33  4-H camps and after this summer I will be up to 44!

What’s your favorite thing about camp?

How can you expect me to pick just one when 4-H camp is my favorite thing?  My first favorite part about camp is campfire.  Campfire is the one part of the day where everyone comes together to hear about what the rest of the camp has been doing.  We have plenty of times where the entire camp is in the same area, but there is no other time during camp that we are able to share our experiences like we do at campfire. My second favorite part of camp is singing!  I love to sing camp songs (very badly) and to be able to dance (also very badly) with them.  I am so obsessed with them that I convince my friends at my college to “repeat after me” and sing along.  Another part of camp that I love is being able to spend time with all of the amazing campers, counselors, adults, and staffers.  Through camp I have been able to meet some of my best friends and many people that have truly made an impact on my life.   I have formed relationships with so many people at camp that truly mean a lot to me.  Every week of camp I get excited to not only see the people that mean so much to me, but to be able to get to know other people as well!

Why did you want to be on camp staff?

It started out just because it looked fun, but has turned into so much more than that.  4-H camp has truly changed my life and I am a better person because of it. There is no place that I am happier at then when I get to go to camp.  I may have only done camp for four years now, but 4-H has turned into something that I want to do for the rest of my life and being on staff is a big part of that goal.

What is your fondest camp memory?

I have so many! In four years I have had so many experiences that I  hold close to my heart!  Some of the things that I really remember are Kids Café in 2008, Sherriff’s Camp with Deputy Hunt in 2009, meeting my best friend Rhino,  Intermediate Camp, Cloverbud Camp, and so much more…. I can’t think of just one!

What do you look forward to the most for summer 2011?

For Summer 2011 I look forward to a lot of fun at the center! Everyone should get excited for the best summer of their lives!

What is the most important thing you want campers to know about camp?

Camp is one of the place where you will meet lifelong friends and have experiences that you will never be able to have again, you don’t want to miss it!  At camp you can be yourself and just have fun. Oh and if you come, you get to hang out with me for a whole week!
